Joe Rocco Featured in Illustration Age!

I'm really honored to be featured in Illustration Age today. I must read this online resource at least once a day to gain inspiration and listen to my favorite illustration podcasts, so I was all a-titter to discover that the inimitable Mark Kaufman had put this very generous piece together. I'm feeling very grateful and in my "Queen for a Day" mode right now.

Cats on Mars? That's nuts. (What I'm Working on this week)

I'm about to do the finished work on the next Fluffer and Nutter comic strip, but until then I had to finish this Cats on Mars illustration and it's also going to be used promotionally. This was for a children's publishing client to be used in a supplement.

2 New Illustrations for Scholastic

I've been busy for the past few weeks on several projects and will write more about them as I get some actual free time. But, in the meantime, here are 2 illustrations I did for Albert Amigo at Scholastic. They initially wanted the boy to be cracking his knuckles and I tried about 6 different sketches and variations. Sacagawea Biography Series for National Geographic Kids Publishing

I just completed this series for Nat Geo before the holidays. There might be a second pass on them for editorial reasons but this is most likely the final set they will use to print from. It was fun learning about Sacagawea and although I knew the basics about her as a historical figure I have really gained an appreciation for her through working on this project. Hope I get more from Nat Geo on this. FUN FUN!!

Squirrels On The Bus! Going "Back-to-School" with Some Fun Critters

Uploaded with secretsaucestudio.com/ WAHOOOOOOO!!! I finally got my new Semi-Fall/ Back-to-School" mailer image completed and produced, so it's circulating across this great big land of ours as we speak. E-blasts are also a comin'! This is basically going to a lot of Children's book publishers and magazines...also some newspapers and Entertainment publications. I like to imagine that the girl student in the front of the bus has a large acorn inside her lunchbox. Hope you all like the piece.

I just completed these spots illustrations for Albert Amigo at Scholastic Scope Online. The deadline was a bit tight, but I'd jump through hoops to work for Scholastic any time. The spots were there to highlight the subjects of Vocabulary, Grammar, Close-Reading and Differentiation.
